Workshops
Imagine a world moved by abolition and disability justice, where mutual aid and transformative practice shatter a colonial medical industrial complex, prisons, borders, and locked wards. Where sustainable communities thrive, and care work is centred. How would that look? What will we need to do to get there? And how can we keep each other safe in the process?
This February and March The Love Tank is running two sets of creative art-centred workshops (one set will take place online and the other in person) geared towards queer disabled* people of colour and migrants. The workshops will ask how we might, together, build a world centred around disability and crip justice—a world that isn’t just liveable for some but irresistible for all.
The workshops will culminate in an online and an in-person exhibition. You will be compensated £280 for taking part in the workshops.
* Our understanding of disability is informed by the disability justice project Sins Invalid (2024), who define disability broadly to include people with physical impairments, people who belong to a sensory minority (e.g. neurodiverse people), people with emotional disabilities and/or mental health conditions, people with cognitive challenges (e.g. brain fog), and those with chronic/severe illness. We understand the experience of disability to occur within any and all walks of life including those whose bodies do not conform to our culture(s)' notions of "normal" or "functional."
We are specifically looking for folk who identify as a queer disabled* person of colour or migrant.
If you are interested, please fill out the intake form below. If you have any questions, then feel free to email Kylo at futures@thelovetank.info.
Places are limited so be quick ☺
